Communicate:
Students achievement and habits are recorded and reported out on at the end of each unit (or about every 4-6 weeks in the case of a long unit). Achievement is recorded separately from habits to ensure that student grades are true reflections of their knowledge, understanding and skills.
Unit reports are given to students that outline the unit targets and the level of achievement for the student on a 4.0 scale. There is a separate section for student habits that, again, outlines each habit being recorded: Presence, Preparation, Participation, Planning, & Progress, on a 4.0 scale as well.
Over time students will begin to see a connection between their performance (habits) and achievement.

Grade bookTARGET
Below is a screenshot of the grade book system JumpRope. This system allows us to record student achievement for each learning target.
Habits & AchievementTARGET
Below is a screenshot using the same system, JumpRope, to report out on Units and on Habits separately. The "U" represents the fact that the Habits (noted as "Character Mastery") does not affect the Academic Mastery of the student.
ReportingTARGET
When reporting out on student achievement, students are provide with a report, similar to the one seen above. Students review their report with their teacher and are expected to bring it home to share with parents or guardians. E-mails are sent home to parents informing them of the end of a unit.
